Hi! I’m Laneé Benson, a speech and language pathologist (also known as an SLP). I am from Northwest Ohio, and graduated from Defiance College with a social work degree in 1998. I am married and have two adult children. In 2010, I decided to go back to school. I worked part time for two years attending classes then had two years of graduate school! I completed my Masters of Science Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Bowling Green State University. I was finally able to become a speech language pathologist!
Since 2014, I have practiced as a speech therapist in a variety of settings including: school, home based, outpatient rehab, and tele-therapy. Previously, as a social worker, I worked with youth and families providing case management, parent coaching, and mediation. These years of experience working with youth allow me to provide a unique aspect to my speech and language therapy. It is important to me to meet each child where they are. By using their interests and engaging activities, children have fun while we are working to improve their communication skills.
Helping other people learn and grow has always been important to me, but now as a speech language pathologist, I get to help them shine!
When I’m not working as a speech therapist, I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking and being outside. We have two dogs and one grand-pup that keep me laughing with their personalities and tricks.
